new BMW handless phone worth it? (archive)

hi guys (and gals)

my dealer told me bmw was coming out with a new phone installment that required no use of hands, voice activated, etc...which i am interested in to cut down on the chance i have an accident.
however, others have mentioned that an aftermarket phone can be of far superior quality to the bmw one and for less money--the bmw one costs @ $1400.00
any thoughts or recommendations on buying one?
