silvervision bulbs are amber bulbs with a silver coating. they are for use behind clear lenses. when they are unlit they are pretty much invisible (as opposed to the "egg-yolk" look with ambers) when they are lit they are amber so they still comply with the law.
i dont know about the 5-series but the part number used on the 3-series is
12496SV
12V 21W
most likely the same for the 5
