High Voltage Spark Sound in Engine Bay? (archive)

This afternoon, I had the hood open, and when I turned the key to 2 (without starting)-- shortly thereafter, I heard what sounded like a high voltage spark. I don't recall hearing this before, and I haven't had a chance to try it again.

Any ideas? Has this been discussed before? I didn't find this in the archives?
