Report that E60 M5 will have V-10 and 550hp... (archive)

This is per a report in the July 11, 2001 issue of AUTOCAR Magazine (from the UK). They say it will be a 5.0L, F1 inspired unit. Probably will debut in 2004 in Europe. The new engine would also be used in the Z8 and possibly even the new 7 series, sort of an M7. The pressure of Audi's S8 and MB's S55 means BMW has to up the ante in the luxo sedan arena.
