OK, I've got about two months to kill before I get my M5, so I figure I can start researching some mods:

1) Short-shift kit. The 540 sure needs it, does the M5 ? What are the favorites ?

2) Exhaust. It could definitely stand to be a little more noticeable. Do any of them actually add power, or just look and sound better ? Which ones will last ?

3) Intake. Do the stock ones pull in water as easily as the 540 ? Do the aftermarket ones help this issue or add any power ?

4) Chip. Will it get you anything other than removing the speed limiter ?

5) Limited-Slip-Differential. Is the the same one as the M3 ? I saw a post on the main E39 board that it can be improved. Any experiences with that ?
