He might be still breaking in the car. So I bet he did not go as fast as if could have.

I pulled up to a stoplight next to a black E46 M3 last night. I rolled down my window & said "nice car!" I think the guy was suprised to see an M5 right next to him. I know I was suprised to pull up to an M3, It's the first one I've seen actually driving. He smiled & gave me a thumbs up. It was very clear what was going to happen when the light turned green.

The light turned green & we both nailed it. I was a little too aggressive and came out with too much wheelspin & he pulled about 1/2 a car length on me. When my tires hooked up I pulled up quickly had about 2 car lenghts on him in 3rd before he backed out. It happened to be right in front of the Police station but you can't fight nature!

Side note:
I swear my car feels a little faster lately. It now has just over 5,000 miles on it and seems to pull harder than just after break in. Probably the engine and drivetrain components are wearing in nicely and consequently cause less friction.
