You have to remember that a shortage of "M5"s in regions such as California can ONLY be solved by selling the car at a price that market will bear. this "premium" will attract other "sellers" into the region "in need" as seller arrives the premium decreases and the market overall reaches an "equilibrum level".

Now for the record, from a personal perspective I do not like what he's doing. However, as the great economist Ronal Coase once said (Coase Therm)...If transaction is costless, the initial assignment of property rights will NOT determine the ultimate use of property..."

chris, the best thing to do in this case is to transfer your spot to a relative, friend, board member, or enthusiast for zero compensation. your intent was to buy the car, right? not to make $ off the spot. your dealer, IF they allow a transfer of your spot, will not take kindly to you making $ when they are charging msrp.
plus, you'll be someone's hero...
