I'm not sure why. I've heard that the ability to produce M5 engines is limited - by what I have no idea. This "limited availability" on the 5.0l V-8's therefore limits the number of cars they can produce. This may all be a bunch of marketing BS to keep the demand and mystique up, though.

I've heard the new M3's area also dealer allocation limited for euro delivery - not certain about that though as it was not the dealer that told me that
