While that's certainly respectable for the M5, it's not really "hanging" with the Viper. Between reaction and downshifting, the Viper was giving the M5 a 1-2 second head start and it was still a car length ahead just a few seconds later (it doesn't really take that long to go from 80-120).
However, it does mean that, if you catch a Viper sleeping on the highway, it might not be able to pass you before you shift out of 4th.
