If you are getting SMGII in your M3, you may be faster, depending how well you shift in your M5. If the SMGII indeed shifts in .08 sec. and you do not have to release the gas throttle during shifting, M3 could win out.
You mentioned a few times about pin-the-head-to the headrest snaps. That you'll probably get more with a regular stick. When you drop the clutch and punch the gas, that's when the snap comes and the heart rises to the throat. In an SMGII (or automatic) you may have one continuous surge until you reach your speed. That only counts as one snap.
However, I still say the 2nd and 4th gears in an M5 are pure heaven. Just give me those 2 gears and I can take on any road, or any car, for that matter.
