I read somewhere that BMW NA gave the California Highway Patrol a brand new spanking M5 (rev-limited removed) as a gift for changing their motorcylces to BMW bikes. Well, last evening I ran into that M5 Highway Patrol Car!!!! I was heading coming back from LA to San Jose on 101 in my LeMans M5 when in a distant, I can see what looked like angel eyes. I was doing 120mph and thinking to myself, "mmm, this 5-series must want to play". It got a lot closer and I noticed and said to myself "that's a funny paint scheme on that 5-series". I told my friend to turn around and look to see what I am seeing. Yep, he said that looks like a Highway Patrol Car, complete with front bumper bars and a shotgun sticking up from the dash. I slowed down to 80mph and he got next to me, smiled and gave me thumps-up and told me on his speaker, "KEEP GOING!!!!" Fu*k, I ain't gonna argue with him. I got back up to 120mph and he slowly pulled away and I slowed back down to let him disappear. About 10 minutes later, I was at gas stop and he suprised me again by pulling into the gas stop. I told he that I was totally suprised to see an M5 Patrol Car, he said that a guy in a Z06 was more suprise the night before. Apparently, Mr.Vetteman was doing about 150mph and got the suprise of his life. He told me that Mr.Vetteman didn't believe that he was a Highway Patrol Officer and that M5 was a Highway Patrol Car. He told me that the M5 is not stock, and it was tuned in Germany. He got up to 190mph one time to stay with a Diablo and eventually calling in a road block to stop the Mr.Diablo. I was a crazy night.
