I couldn't keep cars for more than a couple of years myself, had a 89 944 turbo, 95 M3 and 97 M3, then currently 2000M5. For some strange reason I fell in love with this car and after a year and a half and 21000 miles, I'm still in love with it. I would think if I got a 540i the I would get tired of it pretty quick.

Trying to rationalize m5 purchase over 540i. I know m5 will be 22k more than 2001 540i (51 loaded). Problem is I don't seem to keep cars for more than 1-2 years.
