Moreover, when I owned a 740i, it had some sort of coating on the window that interfered with radar detectors. They left two spots open, right at the bottom center and right under the mirror. I forgot what the manual said, but it was something like those two spots were the only ones that allowed radio transmissions (radar) to pass. Even the saleman at the dealer recommended where to put the radar detector.

My guess is that there's some legal/liability issue on the radar detector. As for the cell phone, sounds suspiciously like an attempt to entice people to buy the CPT 8000. LOL.
