M5 steering (how does it compare to 540i)? (archive)

I know the M5 steering is "servotronic" whatever that means. Is that still recirculating ball? How does it compare to the 540i setup? Actually, I found my 540i steering to be very nice and responsive, and smooth - although some put it down because of the RB setup.
