Well, finally got my car sold (99 540/6) and took delivery of the M5 yesterday (used, 4252 miles) after I returned from London. Boy was I tired by the time I got to sleep!! I've put about 50 miles on the M5 and here's what I think so far:

The M5 feels more buttoned down in just about every way. Shifting is smoother with the shorter throw but also feels 'more substantial'. The car is definitely tighter in handling and steering, and of course is much faster. The sound from the engine is intoxicating!

Also love the interior...a big step up from what was already a wonderful ride.

Anyway, so far I love it. Even my wife appreciates the differences and likes the sound of the car. I can't wait to really put it through its paces and try the sport button!! I'll get some pictures up later today after the fog goes away.
