In Reply to: Disagree!! No fold-down seats due to.... posted by Blauer Blitz on January 18, 2002 at 21:40:37:

Don't listen to Norman, he doesn't know what he's talking about. He's just pissed because he found a car that already had the fold-down seat option.

The reason one should NOT get the fold-down seat are:

1) Fold-seats are discomfortable to sit on. They have a straighter angle, and have very lil' cushion on the seat back. In fact, I can "feel" the back board when I slam my self into the seating position. Horrible!!...just ...horrible!!

2) Fold Down seats lessen the structural intergrity of the E39 body as a whole. This is due to the fact that fold-down rear seats requires the removal of the steel bar that supports the regular rear seats.

3) Fold-down seats may be prone to squeaking noise. I've heard of it from a friend who had fold-down seat on her E39. The noise will drive you NUTZ!!

4) This whole argument of Norm who claim that you ca put more luggage in the trunk just doesn't jive w/ me. How much luggage do you need Norm!!?? JC!! :-)

Oh!!! oh!! here's a better one..... "Maybe I'll have more room when I pick up stuffs from Home Depot.." Oh man!! I love that one!! LISTEN!! If you can afford a $75k car... believe me.... you can afford to buy a truck, so you don't have to load cements and cynder-blocks into your M5's fold-down seats.

Make sense??!! Good....

:-)

I would greatly appreciate any feedback on whether or not to get the fold down rear seat.

Thanks.

LC

on a long trip, I'll have room for a suitcase and other things as well.

Rgds,
Norm

not just your hot air (which I could use because it's starting to get cold here in N.E.).

Rdgs,
Norm
