3) Fold-down seats may be prone to squeaking noise. I've heard of it from a friend who had fold-down seat on her E39. The noise will drive you NUTZ!!

Oh!!! oh!! here's a better one..... "Maybe I'll have more room when I pick up stuffs from Home Depot.." Oh man!! I love that one!! LISTEN!! If you can afford a $75k car... believe me.... you can afford to buy a truck, so you don't have to load cements and cynder-blocks into your M5's fold-down seats.

Make sense??!! Good....

to first point - can't agree or disagree, but here's ammunition for both sides. i've never had a bmw without fold down seats. M3, 540, and M5. they've all had to some extent squeaks and rattles, not just the seat area but general cabin wise. some of the squeaks in all 3 vehicles were definitely coming from either the fold down seats or areas near it.
however, that being said, i've also never had a bmw that i didn't successfully elimininate all the noise problems after 2-3 months of buying the car. so if it can be said that fold down seats may or may not increase your liklihood to have cabin noises associated with those seats, it can also be said that those problems are solvable. if you don't want the potential hassle, fine, don't get the fold down seats, but lets point out for the record that there have been plenty of people who bought bmws with fold down seats that have never reported ever having seat noise problems. so let's not explicitly assume that getting a bmw with fold down seats will give you seat noise problems.

second point - um, how's the math work on that? so if you can come up with the finances to afford one 75k car (i.e. say a monthly discretionary income of 1000-1500 depending on how much you put down), that automatically means you can also afford a truck? ok, i know there's plenty of trucks that start at low 20k and you can get a great Toyota 4Runner for something like low to mid 30k. but that analogy just doesn't even begin to make sense. true, i'd say there's lots of M5 owners who could, but i'd also say there's lots that can't. it's complete elitism to say only the rich buy M5s or vehicles in the 75k neighborhood and that there aren't lots of people who have M5s and can afford it, but can't afford to get a second vechile, whether it's a modest truck or modest car.
