Might be interesting to keep a log on the offers from dealers etc. Shouldn't be more than a couple of these updates.

1) Hendrick Charlotte - Dealer where I bought the M5 from CPU used at 3K miles for way over sticker (Remember that Ed guy in the forum?) $47K from their Lexus dealer, $48K from Hendrick MW direct.

2) Crown - Greensboro - $50K first guess without checking with their BMW buyer. Salesperson thinks it can go higher Monday.

3) CarMax - Charlotte - This is a killer. They offered 48K and change but not really offered. More like apologized. Says they can't take in anything that can't be sold for $50 or lower and therefore the car can't be bought for more than $48K and change. Said the car is worth $60K. Probably could have gotten a free Tercel for my troubles.

4) Ron Shue(sp) Imports - Will consign for $200 refundable if sold. Thanks for the tips on this one. They were salivating Friday night and tried more than twice to get me to leave the car with them so it would be on the lot for the weekend. Offered to come pick it up Monday at the house.

So, this is likely the route I will go. My magic number is now $59K where it was more like $55K for trade in.

The lesson for Hendrick is (and I've told them this) that loyalty is a two way street. I've spent $125K with Rick the past 3 years and they get outbid by CarMax.

If they would have been fair then I wouldn't have even looked at another dealer for the Acura. Now it will come down to price (which no one will budge on) and availability which may be better in the triade area than in Charlotte.

Shame, isn't it?
