It seems many people are talking about swirls as a guaranteed thing to happen when washing cars, etc. Here is a thought... Has anyone tried just washing their cars and drying with chamois ONLY!? That is hte best way to do it. Also, Chips will show no matter what color car you have. Obviously if you feel you are lazy, Ti. Silver is the way to go. If you can spare a few bucks and some time, any dark color can look almost as good as new.

LeMans Blue seems to be the msot popular M5 color since it's nearly impossible to get it on any other BMW. It looks great and changes under different lighting in a wonderful way. Any dark color complements the 5's I think, since it seems to add more dimension to the lines.
That's what I got on my M5.

HOWEVER, BMW paint is the softest crap in the world, and any dark color will show scratches and chips quickly. Silver, on the other hand is a classic german racing color, Ti Silver has pretty good depth (unlike Ford silver, for example) and shine, and like Bee said, you could wash your car with sandpaper and it would still look good. It scratches but doesn't show it.
That's what my wife has on her Z3.
