The E36 M3 seized production after the 1999 model ( only M3 coupes and M3 covertibles were offered through the 1999 production, while in the same production year only the E46 SEDAN was being offered. As the E46 coupe was introduced the E36 M3 coupe ended production, and the only m cars produced in 2000 were the M-coupe, M-roadsters, and the E39 M5)
It appears the strategy of BMW was to offer coupes and sedans in varying forms of the 3-series. IMO it is UNLIKELY that the E39 M5 will be simultaneously produced with the E60 5-series.)
