WHATS THE DEAL! -500 or 5000 over MSRP (archive)

I live in Southern California. To make a long story short one dealer has an M5 that I can get for 500 under MSRP, just not the color/interior combo that I want. I found one that I would take 12 miles away and the dealer insists that the market is strong and will not go lower than a 5k markup which I wont do. Whats the deal with this. The 500 under seems like the market price right now.
