I agree based on own experience with 1997 M3 coupe - sold last week with about 109k miles. Engine compression was normal, never needed to add oil and the car was serviced according to the maintenance 'lights' in the vehicle. Incidentally, the car never needed any repairs (the battery was replaced at 100k miles). Ran as well as the day it was purchased.
