Checked manual - nothing describes small red (maybe light?) to left of foglight switch in my '01 M5. It's in a small rectangular panel and perhaps 1/8" dia. Function?

round red light or is it just a blank panel. I was wondering why mine would have the light if it's only a Euro option. Just curious.
