You'd think with all the engineers BMW has, this obstacle could be overcome. It is available on the 540i 6 speed. Surely the M leather isn't that much different?


Yes in fact, it IS MUCH different. You are comparing apples and oranges. The 540i comes with Montana leather (much thinner). The M5 has Nappa leather (much smoother and thicker). Also, your 540i did NOT have leather in the door trims, it is faux leather spongy material. The Luxury M5 has "extended nappa leather" including around the door trims, making the door too "thick" to put the sunshades.
