I would require CERTIFIED funds, not just a cashier's check. There is some controversy around this, but in the end that person is driving away with your car and I would rather have a check that is certified, (ie the bank says the money is in that account and has in effect debited that same amount). It is never a real issue to do this. In fact in a sale the other day at my local BMW dealer, (they were an intermediary when I sold my 540i 6spd), they also required a certified check.
ALSO, the bill of sale should be simple and explicit: SOLD AS IS. end of story.
