I have the same thing on my 2002! I have tried everything that I can think of to get it off. It looks like it's gone, but as soon as it gets foggy, etc, you can see it again! I wonder what it is?

Has anyone noticed the streaks/ grime on ur M5( or 540) windshield--you clean the glass, looked great but especially at night when raining you can streaks and blobs like some kind of relaese compund- makes it difficult to see.
My 540i had this after i replaced windshield with orig bmw part--had to use bon ami to get it off

Anyone here have other suggestions to clean this "release coat" off??
