Well there is a little known and rarely seen defect with the E39 M5. BMW is unsure as to how many vehicles have been affected and exactly which model year it began but there are some of these models with this defect out there.

Basicly BMW found that in certain M5's the front driver's seat lower cushion retention bar has warped or broken. When this occurs, the bar makes contact with the heated seat elements. This causes a slight short and runs a jolting, but not dangerous, electric shock across the person's behind. Now this has occured in both Sport and Luxury interiors. Thus it is easy to see that a person who already has a bad temperment combined with a nice electric shock across their ass could cause the exhibited behavior.

My suggestion is that the next time you encounter one of these unpleasant persons, please refer them to BMW Technical Service Bulletin #TS-358943-A and explain that this will fix their seat problem which is causing an electric hair across their ass....:-)
