I have searched and researched. Found nothing. I have sent an email to BMWNA, and will post their response unless someone else get this answered. I think it is a special rim lip (seal) that holds the tire rim on the wheel better and seals and bonds more firmly with the tire under pressure, but I can't find any references now.
