I currently have a '94 Q45t as my daily driver / business sedan (in outside sales). Also have a '91 Corvette that is my weekend toy and part time road racer, plus a '01 suburban for the wife to drive, tow the vette, take skiing - etc. I was considering adding an early E36 M3 to the stable this year and then trading the Q45 for a '98-'99 540i next year. I really love the way the E36 M3 drives - it's so "tossable". But then again, I do have a vette and it's pretty darn tossable in it's own right!! I need a large enough 4-door to haul folks for business, so an E36 M3 4-door would not cut it. So I was thinking of getting an E36 2-door M3 and then next year trading the Q45 for a 540.
However, I think by next spring or for sure by next fall that 2000 M5's should be in the mid 40's, maybe even low 40's. I could swing that and keep my reliable Q45 as a back-up / beater sedan. Maybe even trade the Q45 for a 325is - I'd like to have one back-up car that my wife can also drive instead of taking the big 'burb everywhere.
Any thoughts? I'm sure some of you M5 owners had or still have E36 M3's?? If cost were no object I'd love to own one of each, but I'm not quite there financially. Or rather, I probably am but instead make other choices on how to spend the money for the benefit of my family since I am the sole provider for a family of 4.
