When I was looking at getting an M5 or a cheaper sedan plus a cheaper sports car, I decided that I'd rather have fun driving everywhere, everyday than commute in some lesser vehicle and hate every minute of it. Plus, so far the M5 has had much less depreciation than other BMWs, which made the choice financially easier to stomach. (If I'm wrong about that, don't tell me. Ignorance is bliss :-)

I compared total cost per mile (vehicle cost, fuel, tires, gas, everything) of the M5 with a buddy's Firebird, and over 5 years, the M5 should average $.80/mile, and the 'bird came in at $.70/mile. I'll take the luxury and fun of the M5 for just $.10/mile!
