I know there are numerous posts about M5 clutches as I for one have responded and read many of these posts. My question(s) out to the message board are around the replacement. I just took my car in for an oil change, get the shift knob replaced (again!), and have a small oil seapage near the passenger side valve cover checked. While I was there, I asked them to check the clutch for slippage. Now I haven't noticed any serious slippage and I have believed that there was no known or serious clutch issue but rather some people just got some bad clutch parts when the car was built. My question is will the replacement be the same make and model clutch and subject to the same "issues" my original one had (and possibly last only 25-30K miles)? Has BMW quietly aknowledged there is a problem and changed the clutch such that replacement clutches are better/stronger than the original? Any insight would be helpful since my dealer (Steven's Creek BMW in N. CA) and the customer service rep at BMW NA both claimed they have never heard of any clutch problems with M5s nor had to replace any. I think this is total BS and feel especially "betrayed" since I have "defended" BMW on this board when people posted issues about the clutches. Sooooooooooo.....I look forward to any G2 info on this anyone has to share while I eat a big chunk of humble pie.
PS.....I sure in hell ain't gonna pay for it either....the dealer better cover this!!!!
