If you drive the piss out of your M5, you'll need to replace the clutch every 15K miles. If you drive it very hard, mayber every 20 - 30K miles. If you drive it like a Honda, you may not ever have to replace it (or no more than on a Honda. I have a new M5, and my dealer says he has one customer that gets a new clutch every 10K miles. Other than that, he has not seen any "unusual" wear problems, although he thinks 30K is normal for this type of car. The M5 is very close to a race car, and the parts are subject to much more wear if driven like a race car.

I guess time will tell on mine, but I don't mind the full maintenance picking up a clutch or 2 in 50K miles, and then I will start paying after that.
