gears/linkage problems w/ 02' M5 (archive)

anybody have any suggestions or info on why my 2002 m5 is giving me problems in coming out of first gear. the car has 4,000 miles and every time i take off in first gear it pops back out and the car comes to a haulting stop. I have to do this a few times and take off slowly for it to engage. i am taking it to the dealer but i just wanted some input. I actually have to take off in 2nd gear so that it does not pop out. It only happems in 1st. the clutch doesnt seem to have any problems or extra play.
