911TT, Mitsu 3000 GT VR4 1991.
Dispite it's pluses and minuses Mitsu clutch was fine with car massive torque. Clutch also a Mitsu weakness, but was much more reliable for 70K mi, than E39M5.
...my observations....
Before getting an E39M5, tested couple of them new and with 6-25K mi. Also tested some new E46M3s. First feeling/observation and the fact is E46M3s clutch feels more complete, is much better/shorter/feels much more reliable and better engineered. My personal opinion, everithing else about E46M3 is the opposite, E46M3s were produced by BMW in a hurry, badly engineered :)
After E39M5s test the first trouble feeling I've got was a clutch feeling/engineering/reliability. Everithing else about this car is perfect, except the clutch component engineering. It was not just some specific M5 problem. It's car engineering.
Even though BMW probably will never accept that fact, but E39M5 clutch component engineering is not acceptable for the car of such price range.
...just some fresh water...:)
