good observations...

i echo your sentiment on the e39m5 clutch as being perhaps the only weakness on the car...

with respect to your other comments, i always thought that the m5s (and previous and forthcoming m6s) were intended to be bmw's signature statement on technical/performance prowess in the high-end/exotic market, but that m3s were intended to fatten the company's bank accounts...hence, the pricing and production levels...with the m3 you get super-car performance, but don't expect anything else...
