The following site has instructions under Tips and Tricks, General, Item 9, Installing a V1 Detector. I had my dealer install for $60 just to protect any electrical warranty conflicts, but it is very easy to do. V1 comes on with ignition, and powers off when the car is shut off. Full protection, automatically.


I did the installation myself. I think ground was the brown wire, hot was red with a brown or yellow stripe. Anyway, all you have to do it unwind the black tape holding the wires together, use a razor to cut the insulation, solder, tape, and you're in business. I took a flexible telephone connector cord and used that. The power is the inner two of the four connectors.
