I always get better reception with the phone plugged in than I do with it out. There is a compensator that should have been installed with the phone to prevent just this type of problem. Check with the dealership and make sure it has been. If not, then your problem probably lies there.

I have encountered poor reception and drop calls while the phone is attached to the car unit. I have gone to such extremes as pulling over the freeways and using the phone to call out (and have people call me) while phone is detached. At the same place if I attach the phone to the car, it will not work.

I have taken the car to my neighborhood “friendly” dealership. They do not think there is anything wrong with it.

My car must show (three bars on signal strength) for me to send or receive calls. At two bar strength, 80% of the incoming calls are transferred to my voice mail without ringing.

It was my understanding that the reception should be stronger while the phone is plugged to the car unit!

Can someone validate this issue? What is my alternative?
