One thing that kind of bugs me about BMW. The company goes through long build cycles like other car companies, to maximize capital investment, etc., but makes very small incremental changes in favor of large evolutionary changes. When a model changes like M5 will in what we all guess will be calendar 2003 sometime, the outgoing model in my opinion looks OLD QUICKLY. If incremental changes would be made this would not be as apparent. I can see for instance, the interior console looking very dated when the new E60 comes out. So you need to be comfortable with this. I have gotten over this issue and BMW's design efforts lately have really helped because to me, the current E39 car line will hold up well. Look at Porsche 911 for the opposite extreme.
