As M5_ZZT mentioned, this car has a ton of torque and lots of weight to move, with a relatively weak clutch. The single best thing you can do for it is make sure the clutch is completely engaged (foot off) before feeding any serious amount of throttle. You won't be smooth, but the car will last long enough for you to learn. In fact, except on hills, you should be able to get moving (slowly) by just letting the clutch out and feeling for the engagement point. The engine has enough torque to get going even at low revs. Once you've gotten a feel for the engagement point, then you can get a feel for the throttle response, and put the two together carefully. Remember, it's a feedback thing, if the car dies, you're releasing the clutch too fast.

DO NOT just floor the throttle when shifting or starting off. At best you'll just make tire smoke and at worst, you'll roast the clutch.
