Problems with Sumitomo HTZRII??? (archive)

I purchased a new set of Sumitomo HTZRII tires (mounted on new rims from the Tire Rack) about a year ago. Over time, they seem to have gotten more and more noisy. I've spoken to 2 other people, and they've had the same problem. One of them had the tires replaced under Sumitomo's warranty.

Is this a common problem with these tires? They perform pretty well and have lasted a long time (still have 50% tread). But the noise is unbearable at this point.
