I'm about to take the plunge to buy a new set of wheels/tires (BBS RK w/Yokohama AVS S1) but unsure whether the fit won't over hang the fender. Here's the data...

1997 Z3 2.8
BBS RK 16x8, 38mm offset
Yokohama AVS S1, 225/50ZR16

From my calculations this will look great on the rear since the Z3 2.8 has flare out fenders. BUT on the front, this gets awfully close to beyond the fender. Currently I have OEM 17x7.5 option, 41mm offset with 225/45ZR17. In comparision with this, the BBS RK 16x8, 38mm offset, which will push the outer edge the tire an additional 9mm or 3/8". Correct? I know this may seem a small distance but the OEM 17x7.5 already displaces the tire sidewall vertical to the fender. I don't want to see the 16x8 push the tire sidewall beyond vertical to the fender!

Data calculation based on; 1) additional offset of 3mm, difference between OEM and BBS. 2) additional rim width adds 6mm, ie. from 7.5" to 8" = 0.5" or 12mm then 1/2 of that equals 6mm to the outer edge. Total additional = 3+6 = 9mm.
