RE730 vs SV50EP (archive)

Brigdestone altered the S02 into a S02 Pole Position. In doing so, the tire gives up some dry cornering power in favor of more consistent grip over the life of the tire, and a somewhat better ride. Firestone (Brigdestone) has done the same with the SV50. In this case, however, the tread wear number jumps from 220 to 340. That seems like an awful lot of potential grip loss. Have you guys had an opportunity to play with the new SV50EP's yet? The RE730 has similar numbers, how is it. I am looking for a set or tires to replace my stock SP2000E's on a 540iaT with sports package. I have had S02's before and they have awsome grip, but are a little noisy and too firm riding. I thought the SV50 would be perfect, and it is also significantly better wearing than the S02's. I am concerned that the new version will loose too much performance. I had good hopes about the RE730 until I saw the wear numbers. Has the spread between the near great tires and the great ones just been widened?
