: My instructor was very impressed with the tire as was I.
: I will be ordering another set shortly, but wanted your opinion on other tires in the same price range as the RE71.
: Also, is it true Bridgestone will no longer be making the RE?
: Thanks

I spoke to Bridgestone recently about the 71 and the 730. The fact is that the Potenze 730 is replacing the 71. It incorporates some of the new Bridgestone tire technologies, but not all of them that are in their top of the line tires. I have installed the 730's on my 96 M3/2 and am very satisfied with them. I must point out though that I am a late 50's guy and do not race, etc. They are much quieter than the PZero's that were on the car when I got it a month ago. I made a post previously that I believe to be true. The 730's will capture a lot of the market for folks that want a ZR rated tire with good tire life and excellent, just not the absolute best available, performance. The tread wear rating is 300, the wet rating is AA, and the temp rating is A. If you want the absolute top spec performance because you race you would be better off looking elsewhere. If you want an affordable tire (paid $640 to buy 4 have them installed and balanced) that you give you a lot more capability than you will probably ever use I don't see how you could go wrong with the new Potenza 730.
