These wheels seem very soft. I currently run with 40PSI in the S-02 Pole Position tires (which have been great!) One time I bent a pair of wheels running into a pothole that I didn't see until it was too late, but after then I bent more driving on what I would consider normal roads. These things just seem flimsy to be prone to such breakage. I try not to drive on rough roads, but nonetheless, I am disappointed in how sturdy these wheels appear to be.
Now it looks like I've bent another one. It's coming time to replace the pair of tires currently on the rear, and I was debating what to do next.
Yes, I know wheels bend, but 5 in less than a year? I know this is unlucky, but I think it's too much! When I called Tire Rack about them, I more or less got the party line of "wheels bend, there's not much we can do for you". I haven't seen another car with these wheels, although I've seen pix of them on other cars. Are these wheels primarily made for cruisers rather than sportier cars? Right now I'm on the verge of chucking them all and just going back to the 16" BMW factory wheels instead.
I have a '99 Z3 2.8, and I chose 225/45zR17s all around when I upgraded to the MM Spiders. Now I'm wondering if I just suck it up and buy 245/40zR17s for the rear so I can have more tire soaking up bumps, or should I just throw in the towel now and go back to the original factory size wheel/tire combo?

Before you ask, these bent wheels were significantly bent, not simply out of balance as I suspected the first couple of times it happened.
