Tires for 1992 E36 (archive)

Hello,
My tires are currently nearing the end of their usable life. I am currently riding on the 15" Steel OEM wheels with Dunlop all-season rubber. I have been thinking about just getting these wheels mounted with snow tires and getting some 16" wheels with good rubber for the summer, as I plan to continue doing Auto-Xing.
First question is will this increase, decrease, or not affect the handling of my car? (I have heard that it improves to certain point, then cornering begins to degrade.) Also, what tires would you recommend for these and do you know if there were any OEM 16" wheels offered in 1992, as I tend to prefer to keep the car looking somewhat stock? Also, where would you reccomend I get these mounted? I live on the North Side of Chicago and I bought my last set from Just Tires. I really enjoyed the warranty they provided and I am looking for a similar deal. I have heard nothing but positive reviews of the Tire Rack and just wanted to get some information. Thank you for your help,

Chris
