Tire Rack: 225/45 17 or 235/40 17? (archive)

I am looking to buy a set of tires for my '92 325is. I have a set of 7.5 X 17 with 225/45 with lowered suspension, I was wondering to stick with the 225/45 or switch to 235/40. I know that the '95 M3 came with 235/40 with that size of rim, but the BMW wheels catalog recommends using 225/45 for that size of rim. Any recommendations?
