: : I am looking to buy a set of tires for my '92 325is. I have a set of 7.5 X 17 with 225/45 with lowered suspension, I was wondering to stick with the 225/45 or switch to 235/40. I know that the '95 M3 came with 235/40 with that size of rim, but the BMW wheels catalog recommends using 225/45 for that size of rim. Any recommendations?

: The tire size would be determined by the offset of the wheel. For the 235/40R17 you would need an offset of 40mm or higher. Let me know if I can help with the tire selection. Thank you Jim ext 364

Thanks for you answer. The rims are the forged polished rims from the M3, so I think that the offset is at least 40mm.
