: Questions: Is the offset of the E34 M5 wheels, which I believe is 20mm, the same as the E30 M3, or do I need spacers?
: Also, I know many people who put 17" wheels on the E30 use a 215/40-17 tire size. I'd like to use something a little wider if possible, as the E34 M5 wheels were originally fitted with 235s. It seems like a 225/40-17 would be ideal, only +0.9% difference from the stock 205/55-15s. However, Tire Rack doesn't have any max performance rubber in that size. Has anyone used 225/35-17s on the E30 M3? There are at least two choices in that size, which is -2.8% difference from stock. Or should I stick with 215/40-17s? Thanks.

I believe the wheels on the M5 were 17X8.5. If this is the case you would have a problem with the E30 M3. We have seen as big as 235/40R17 on the back of the M3 but you may have to do some modifications to the fender or camber adjustments. As far as a 225/40R17 there isn't any tires made in that size that we know about.
