UK Z3 with michelin pilot mxm* (archive)

OK here is the problem. I have a UK spec Z3 2.0 fitted with standard, michelin hx pilot mxm* 225/50 R16 92V tyres. I have a problem in that in need to replace one of the tyres as a nail went through it. The problem here is that we have the tyres but only the mxm, not mxm*. The sidewall seems to be different to the mxm*, in that there seems to be a great deal more information, and an extra rim just before the alloy. Obviously I would like to find a matching tyre as the others have only covered 2000 miles. Is there anyway of locating one of these tyres, and is there anyway of seeing a pic of one before ordering?(just to make sure that it is the same). I have been in contact with michelin UK and they say the mxm* is an american produced tyre? is this correct. If so why would they differ between countries. The tread pattern on the UK tyre is however exactly the same, only the tyre wall differs.
