I dont really know that there is a specific type of weight that should be used assuming that the wheel is properly balanced following standard techniques. We use stick on weight exclusively with our wheel sets. BMW uses a special type of weight to affix to the wheel with a minimal potential for wheel finish damage, as such, I would suggest you try to maintain one of these wo methods for the same reason.
Thanks!

: I have a 99' 540i and was wondering what kind of wheel
: weights should be used on the car. Are the lead weights
: that are typically used o.k. to use on the BMW alloy
: wheels? I believe the owners manual recommends using
: only the BMW style wheel weights. Any info appreciated.
